“Hello, my name is Ann, I’m a RBC Bilingual Reporter. Today I went to Hongao Ice Sports Development Center and brought you this “cold” news.-- 2017 Olympic City Cup - Beijing World Minor Hockey International Tournament. Beijing Olympic City Development Association and BHA hold this tournament together, to complete “300 million people involved in ice and snow” since 2022 Beijing Olympic Games is coming.
It was a great opportunity to know this sport and join it in another way. I fortunately watch a competition between China and America, and interviewed their coach Peter. Peter told me that in their country, ice hockey players mostly starts training at 5. He also said China did a very good job today. At the end of the interview, Peter said:"when you bring teams from so many countries, people play different, it’s like dance, you have jazz dance, ballet disco dancing. Different country play different ways which is unbelievable."
For Latvia team, it’s their first time come to China as well. The coach of Latvia feels very proud of his team, because they did a very good job in this competition. They has not met China team for now, but soon, and they are looking forward it.
After the competition, both America and Latvia team player learned how to write Chinese characters, make Chinese knot and draw facial makeup. We taught them how to write their country’s name and China, Beijing and some other simple characters. we all had a lot of fun."----小记者赵子茹
“In April 30th, we came to the ice hockey field as a bilingual student reporter from Radio Beijing. We interviewed some audiences from other countries and gave them some Chinese traditional art works as the presents. During the process of the interview, I learned they like China very much, because of Chinese hospitality and its history and culture.I also interviewed Chinese players and audiences. Through this interview, I learned more about the ice hockey, also increased my confidence to be a bilingual reporter.”----小记者季冉冉
“We watched 3 ice hockey games. By watching these games I started to get interested in this competitive sport. The players on the field chase the balls like crazy; when they have the ball they dish out magical passes and take beautiful shots. In the end the team that scores the most goals takes the match. The most intense game I watched today is between China and Czech Republic, despite China losing 6:3 but we still played a great game, keeping more possession and passing the defense more easily then Czech, but Czech took their chances nailing 6 goals and we were unlucky, failing to turn shots into goals.
After the game I did an interview with Czech Republic’s defender no.17 Adam Capka, he was the only man on the Czech team able to speak English, he told me that he started playing ice hockey at the age of 4 and his favourite player is Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks in the NHL. Adam’s dream is to play Ice Hokey professionally one day in the NHL.
I also did an interview with a parent of our Chinese players. Her son is the primary attacker of the Under-12 Chinese team, she is proud that her son has the opportunity to play in such a big international tournament. We all wish that the kid can have a bright future!"----小记者卜令允
